Chochalan is our very own social network! Parang facebook, ganun. You can create an account and profile, post status updates, make friends, upload photos and share videos, mag-senti, mang-asar, mag-landi, magpa-cute, at kung anu-ano pa.
Eh di mag-register ng account, it’s free! There are 2 ways to join:
1. Click the Register link (NOTE: link will only work if you are NOT signed-in), fill in all the required fields, and click the “Complete Sign Up” button. A confirmation email will be sent to you containing a verification link which you will have to click to activate your account. (Sometimes the confirmation email ends up in your junk folder, so check that if it isn’t in your inbox.) The advantage of this first method is that you can choose your username and upload your own profile picture.

2. Click the Login with Facebook button, and your user account will automatically be created. Your username will be in this format: firstname_lastname (example: nora_aunor), with firstname and lastname being what they are in your facebook profile. Also, your Chochalan profile picture will automatically be your facebook profile photo.
Syempre unang-una, mag log-in diba! If you signed up using the “Login with Facebook” button, then you’re also automatically logged-in, otherwise type in your username and password in the login box. Forgot your password? Click on the “Forgot?” link to have it emailed to you, at uminom ng memory-enhancing supplement, lamang ang may good memory!
Ok so naka-login ka na, very good. You’ll notice that there’s now a gray horizontal bar located at the top-most part of the site. It contains links to help you use and manage your Chochalan account and profile.
Under the My Account tab located at the site’s top bar, go to Profile–>Change Avatar to upload/change your profile photo. Click the Browse… button to select your photo, then click the Upload Image button. If the image you uploaded is too large, use the crop tool to crop your photo to fit, then don’t forget to click the crop image button.
Go to Profile–>Edit to fill-up/edit your profile info. There are 2 tabs there:
The first is the Display Name tab where you can change your display name (NOT your username which you use to log-in, you cannot change your username.) Your “display name” is what will appear in the Chochalan network when you post status updates, comments, etc.
The second is the Profile Details tab where you can change profile info such as location, relationship status, etc. Be sure to check these out, as we have some pretty unique profile options.
Go to Profile–>Public to view how your profile will appear to others.
Click the Activity link under the My Account tab at top bar, it will take you to your personal activity streams. You can see the post status update box to the right of your profile picture, just click on it and start typing, then click the Post Update button to publish your status update.
You can also include photos by clicking the camera icon located below the post status update box. Type in your status update, then choose the image you want to upload – this may take several seconds for large file sizes. Click the Add Photos and Post Update button to publish both your status update and included photo, or click the Cancel button to discard your uploaded photo.
NOTE: photos uploaded through this method will be posted directly to your activity stream. If you want to upload a photo to your Chochalan album, then use the Album link.
Chochalan’s Activities are similar to Facebook’s Recent Activity. They include status updates, comments, new friendships, profiles changes and other stuff that combined comprise your activity stream.
Members can use activity streams to follow activity site wide, just for their friends, mark certain activities as favorites, and to track @username mentions of their username.
Navigating the Activity Pages:
Personal – your most recent activities
Friends – most recent activities of your friends
Favorites – “folder” that links to activities that you have marked as favorite
@username Mentions – most recent activities that include the use of an @ followed by the member’s username
Mentions are like Twitter’s @replies. Using @ in front of a member’s username is a unique identifier for that person that you can include into your status updates, replies to status updates, and blog comments, and that user will be sent a notification and a link to where it was used. It’s like a shoutout to that user to get his attention, papansin lang, ganun. It’s like your way of posting something in another user’s wall. For example, if you type “idol ko si @nora_aunor” in your status update, member nora_aunor will see your status update in her Mentions tab. Likewise, when other members mention you using @yourusername, you will see them under the Mentions tab in your Activities page or the Chochalan page.
You can just type @ followed by a letter and the system will suggest usernames for you. Try it!
To view the site-wide activity streams (i.e. the status updates, photos, etc of all members) go to the Chochalan page, which defaults to the All Members tab. You can also post your status update from there to instantly participate in the chochalan. Also, you can click on the Show: dropdown filter to view only certain types of activities.
To view only the activities of your friends, click the My Friends tab. You can also view your friends’ activity streams from My Account–>Activity–>Friends
NOTE: The visibility of members’ activities will depend on their privacy settings.
You can click the Add Friend button located at every member’s profile page, beside their profile photo.
Also, you can browse our Members Directory and click the Add Friend button beside the listed members.
Of course, the other members have to approve your friend requests for you to become friends. Pag hindi nila inapprove, ibig sabihin ayaw ka nila maging friend, tanggapin mo na lang.
To view incoming friend requests, click My Account–>Friends–>Requests at the top bar.
Member with most friends become Miss Congeniality!
