Wire shelving is probably one of the least expensive means to have an organized closets and will help you to have a place for everything. You will save time by having your closet organized because searching for something can waste a lot of your precious time because you have to dig through piles of unorganized messes. You will need to have some basic carpentry skills if you decide to install this yourself, or you could hire someone to install it for you. Assess your needs. Do you need to have a place where your belts and ties hang? Do you have a lot of shoes? To give you even more storage space you can install double rows or hanging rods to hang shorter items and you can use a pull down bar to help pull down items you have stored up high. Have a plan and know what you want installed in your closet. Measure your closet carefully to determine what you need to purchase. Make a rough drawing showing how you would like the closet to look and include your measurements. Be sure to consider everything that you want a space for. Choose the best product for your closet. Once you have purchased your wire shelving, begin to remove everything from your closet. This would be the perfect time to simplify your life by going through everything that you are removing and giving things away that you don’t have a use for anymore or clothes that don’t fit. You can purchase wire shelving kits or individual components. Make sure everything is attached to wall studs. If you are including any free standing shelves, you may want to secure it to the wall if it will be holding any heavy weight. Make sure you use a level when installing shelves to keep everything straight. There are two basic types of wire shelving - one that uses clips that attach each shelf to the wall - and the other uses a horizontal track and vertical standards, allowing you to adjust the height of each shelf. Be sure that your standards are long enough. After removing everything from your closet, draw a line around your closet six inches above where you want your shelf. Do this by using a level and a pencil. Locate the studs and mark them. Using screws install the track into the studs. Once your tracks are installed, hang your standards and shelves. Position the standards sixteen to thirty-two inches apart when installing. Once you have installed the shelves the unit will be solid. Working with the longest to the shortest shelf, install it and move on to the next shelf. Some accessories that you can purchase to enhance your closet include: slack racks, pull out clothes valets, pull down closet rods, reaching hooks, over the door closet rods, cap racks, slide and stack clothing organizers, swing arm hanger valets, and/or fold and stack dividers.
