You were protected, so it seems.
But not so.
Your boogeyman lived with you:
You were a witness to countless arguments,
Raised voices and violence –
I would never know what you had gone through
Nor could I ever put into words your experiences.
All I know is, there are wounds that fester
Until this moment
Even when a lot of time had passed,
Even when you had grown up already
And had learned the hows and the whys –
Some questions simply do not have answers.
I would never know the horrors you’ve been through –
All I know is that, it had affected you all your life
That trust is a foreign word and love is almost unheard of.
