Part II- THE MAN HE IS

I was waiting for him to explain everything to me pero wala akong narinig sa kabilang linya. I was hoping he would say he’s sorry sa mga nangyari pero nabingi lang ako sa katahimikan.

“But anyway hindi na mahalaga yun. Why? What happened ba?” muli kong binuhay ang usapan namin.

“Wala na nga kami. Kanina lang nagkausap kami sa messenger. She asked me for her freedom. She said that she’s is not yet ready for another commitment daw. At ikaw ang gusto kong unang makaalam..”

I was about to ask why did he choose me but I could really feel the sadness of his voice on the other line kaya pinili kong manahimik.

“She just waited for me to leave Pinas and then she’ll brake up with me maybe because it would be too impossible for me to go back there. She planned it all! And I said if that is the case then I’m going to respect her decision. Maybe she couldn’t wait for another two years na pagbabalik ko”

“C’mon ‘D’…tell me the whole convo coz I am not buying it” I insisted “There’s got to be a reason why she suddenly asked for her freedom. Baka naman me nasabi kang mabigat at nasaktan sya ng husto…meron ba?”

The other line was silent for a moment. Then I heard him murmuring”nasabing masama?”

“Alam mo hindi magdedesisyon yun ng ganun kadali yun kung wala syang narinig sa yo na hindi maganda. She maybe a lot younger than you pero di na rin sya bata para padalos-dalos ang desisyon. Yes! She probably has a valid reason why she said she is not ready yet for another commitment. Ilan taon lang ba yung baby nya? Kelan lang ba nangyari yun? Siguro fresh pamasyado yung heartaches na naramdaman nya sa past nya. And if she says she’s not ready please try to understand” tunog nagmamakaawa na ang boses ko “ Buuin mo kaya yung kwento mo para alam ko kung ano tunay na pangyayari”

And there I sat at our veranda and patiently listening to his story though I felt my hand was trembling more and more. My heart was pounding so hard as well. Then he started his sotry that he came across her GF’s friendster and read this odd guy’s testi. Ang tanging naiintindihan nya lang ay meron daw something sweet sa dulo ng message at me kisses pa. Pero dahil ito ay nakasulat ayon sa kanilang dialect ay di nya maintindihan lahat. He asked her about it and she denies that they have something special. Friends lang at nagkataon lang dawn a they friends in common kaya sila close. Pero ayaw maniwala ni 'D'.

He was badly hurt and so jealous of what he found out. He explained the she was one of the main reasons why he did all his best to come back home. He wanted to meet her, to see her and to be with her. He was man enough to present himself to her parents para daw hindi sila mag-worry pag magkasama sila. He presented himself as the boyfriends who loves her so much, accepted her past and her child… And it was all because of love.

Touch ako…”syet sayang” bulong ko sa sarili ko… Iilan lang ang tulad nya. Meron pa kanyang natitirang kagaya nya na magmamahal ng todo at kayang tanggapin ang lahat para sa taong iniibig? “Sayang talaga” nagususmiksik sa isipan ko ang panghihinayang. Ang swerte naman ni ‘F’ at me tulad nya na nagmamahal sa kanya ng lubusan…
